I am a first grade teacher. Getting to mold such young minds is a wonderful occupation for anyone to have. The students I teach are not always given the best learning environments at home due to their financial and parental limitations. They not only lack some of the critical learning opportunities and support at home, but they also are limited to the amount of social developments needed early in life. As a result, I do my best to fill those gaps. My students would greatly benefit from a floor puppet theater and puppets. This dramatic play area would serve as a crucial center in our classroom. The theater and the puppets would be a wonderful place for my students to further develop their social and language skills. This theater would promote language by allowing the children to use the puppets and speak for them. The theater would also promote cooperation and good character as the students would work together during the dramatic play times. As you can see, the floor puppet theater and puppets would advance my first graders?linguistic and social abilities.
