Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
At my school, "Every Student Counts, and Every Moment Matters!"
My students come to school each and every day ready to take on the world and to learn, challenging themselves to be better than they were the day before!
We set academic goals in each content area and aim not only to achieve, but to surpass these goals.
This is not always easy in a lower income neighborhood where the stress of the outside world can permeate into the classroom environment, where 100% of students receive free lunch and where Title I resources are cut due to dwindling budgets, but poverty is not an obstacle that my students let get in their way.
They aim for the highest standards of achievement! Their motivation, focus and drive is awe-inspiring.
My Project
I am requesting funds to attend the Get Your Teach On National Conference in San Diego, California. I have a passion for being an educator and I am always interested in new, innovating teaching methods that will give my students the ability to succeed. During the conference, I would get to spend three days with Hope and Wade King and the Get Your Teach On Team as they share their passion for education and give tips, best practices and teacher secrets to building a successful and engaging classroom. I want to learn how to BE THE WILD CARD for my students! Hearing Hope and Wade King speak during their Be The Wild Card book release party interviews was so inspirational! WE as teachers are the WILD CARD that can make anything possible EVERY DAY in our classrooms despite any other challenges that may arise.
This conference will help me become a better teacher to challenge my students and leave them hungry for more learning.
Working with the Get Your Teach On Team will help me become the math and financial literacy teacher I want to and know I can be by unleashing the creativity I have inside me! I want my math and financial literacy instruction to be SO CREATIVE every day that my students RUN TO MY CLASS and are anticipating our next activity!
