This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
This project is for my new kindergarten class for the 19-20 school year! I absolutely love this age and cannot wait for another exciting year!
I want to instill a love of reading to my students.
Reading is everywhere and is needed for absolute success. If my students are anything like my last kindergarten class, endless amounts of books is a must! Kindergarten children are just being introduced to books and deserve to explore their interests and expand their imaginative mind!
My Project
"Please, Give The Pigeon Some Books!" (after the beloved Mo Willem's series), is a project in order to support reading in my kindergarten classroom. My first year in kindergarten, I was able to graciously use the class library of a former teacher. This time, I am starting from scratch and am in need of books to start building up our class library for the 19-20 school year!
Having a variety of books will help my students learn more about the world around them as well as spark their imagination and creativity.
This project includes grade-appropriate books for an independent reading level, books for English Language Learners, and recommended trade books aligned with our curriculum. My students deserve every opportunity for success in reading, but it all starts with being able to put a book in their hand!
