My students know their goal in Kindergarten is to learn to read and write. However, it has been difficult to expose them to different types of books and stories when we do not have a functional class library. Children need to read a book so they can use all of their modalities. Some of the popular titles that children should know at this age, they do not know. We have a small set of outdated, ripped books that are not at the Kindergarten level. I would love for them to explore new books, at their level, during small group time; as well as having an interesting, engaging book for me to read during storytime!
