My students need large, high contrast visuals to enable communication and overall participation. Many of my students are visually impaired making modification of materials necessary in order for them to be active participants. WE need an Echo dot and printer.
Hi! My name is Lisa and I teach students who are medically fragile students with severe special needs. My students are non verbal and require support in all areas. They work best in small groups with direct instruction. Adaptation and modification is key! My students require a multi sensory approach. I always try to incorporate all of the senses in my lessons. Large, high contrast visuals are crucial!
Each of my students have their own personalities, likes and dislikes, strengths, and struggles.
Anyone who spends time with them cannot help but see their abilities rather than their disabilities. They see the joy and happiness my students have for life despite the medical, physical, and cognitive struggles that most of us will never contend with. It is my goal to provide my student with appropriate adapted tools and materials to best support their individual needs.
My Project
This project will provide me with much needed materials to adapt and modify effectively. Having a colored printer, document camera, and a voice activated tool that will auditorily respond to questions will help me feed the senses! They will provide a solid means for me to adapt visually and auditorily for years to come!
The Brother 3170CDW printer was highly recommended by another special education teacher.
I was told it is highly efficient and cost effective! The document camera will allow me to present worksheets, pages in the text, and visuals in a large and effective manner. The echo dot is an inexpensive way to encourage the use of language whenever possible as well as auditory stimulation.
