Please Do Your Job: Kindergarten Classroom Jobs and Chores
My students need a classroom job chart, a classroom timer, a cordless sweeper and a rolling cart, so they can learn to be responsible by doing classroom jobs and chores.
Students in my kindergarten classroom come to school excited about learning. Many of my students come from low-income families, and all the students at my school receive free breakfast and lunch. This background can mean that students’ families cannot afford to purchase needed school supplies.
My students deserve to receive the best education possible so that they are able to succeed in school and in life.
These boys and girls have such awesome attitudes, and they try their best every day!
My Project
Kindergarten is a huge adjustment for my four to five year old students. They are required to share, work together and assume responsibility for their actions. This can be challenging, since children at this age are often mainly focused on themselves and their own wants. Due to these facts, I believe that kindergarten is an excellent time for my students to learn about responsibility and contributing to the classroom, by doing classroom jobs and chores. Learning these important lessons helps them begin a path toward become a responsible, hard working adult.
I am requesting a classroom job chart, so each week my students can have classroom jobs or chores that they are responsible for doing.
Doing these classroom jobs will help my students think beyond themselves, to the greater good of the class. If each student completes his or her job, the classroom will be a better learning environment for all of the students.
While most classroom jobs, such as line leader and teacher's assistant do not require special materials, a few do. I am requesting a cordless sweeper for the sweeper job, a classroom timer for the time keeper job and a rolling cart for the library helper (to use to collect and return books to the library).
By supporting this project, you will be helping me teach my students about responsibility, hard work and working together. Thank you for taking the time to read my project idea!
