My Students

We teach in a Title 1 school with students from various economic households and upbringing. We are a Montessori school, but we are the Resource teachers in a Learning Lab. We teach ELA, Math and Prosocial skills in a small group setting to meet the students' individual exceptional needs. We teach a range of age levels from kindergarten to 8th grade with a multitude of learning and behavioral disabilities.

But the students all have one goal- to be be better than the day before.

Our students know that school can be a struggle and they don't want to come every day. They struggle with so much more than just the academics but we do our best to meet their challenges head-on and make it fun. And boy, do we have fun! They may not get the skill that was taught that day but they laughed and are excited to come back and try again until they do!

My Project

I am asking for paper on behalf of all of our Special Education students. The district's allotment of funding for paper for this school year was significantly less than last year and our enrollment significantly increased. We are seeking donations for the basic, necessary supply of paper for our teachers and students. Having a supply of paper is vital for both teachers and students. Many of our students do not have access to technology at home and in a Montessori setting, technology is not used regularly until students are in the upper elementary grades. Therefore, copy paper is a basic necessity for teachers to effectively fulfill their daily responsibilities and for students to achieve academic success. Copy paper is needed on a daily basis for students to complete academic lessons, practice fine motor skills, engage in creative projects, communicate with parents and guardians, and support teachers and students in countless other educational responsibilities and activities. Unfortunately, supporting this project will not fund the addition of engaging classroom materials, a purchase of modern educational technology or an unforgettable field trip. Rather, it will fund the basic necessity of copy paper, which is a vital and fundamental supply that no school should be worried about running out of.

Our school is in desperate need of paper for every teacher to help every student!
