I see a variety of speech and language disorders in my classroom. I have students who are non-verbal and learning to communicate, students on the autism spectrum, students who stutter, and students who need general articulation therapy. Each student requires an indivudalized treatment plan to work on their goals.
"Not being able to speak is not the the same as not having anything to say." Communication can be through speech, pictures, or technology and my goal is to help each child find what works for them.
When eligible students turn 3, they join our preschool program. These little hands need toys and books they can interact with, while having an emphasis on teaching them skills such as labels, requesting, category skills, and using sentences.
With these new toys, books, and supplies preschoolers will have new experiences to help enrich their language skills.
Students love bubbles and the Fubbles will ensure that they get to play without the mess. The beanbags can be used for fun games, while learning to say their shapes and colors. Board books are best for little hands so the pages don't rip. The Pop the Pig game will get students laughing and requesting to take a turn and play again. The dry erase circles and markers are included to make the table an immediate space for drawing, showing letters, or anything that will help enhance their language learning ability! Finally, the zip pouches are a safe way to store materials and books so they are available to be used year after year!
