Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Most of my students have recently come to this country in search of a better future. They are eager to learn English and are all so resilient and persistent. On my first day walking into the classroom they were so relieved that I spoke Spanish too. Through hands-on experiences, my students will be able to be successful in the classroom. This is a beautiful opportunity for me because I came to this country at their age and learned the English language.

My Project

These materials will provide hands on learning for my students. Most of them have migrated from Spanish speaking countries and will learn best with visuals and hands on supplies. The materials will provide exposure of letters through play. It is so much more effective than a paper and pencil method of identifying and working with letter.

The toys that have different objects/pictures to practice beginning consonant sounds are great to provide that tangible item and match to the correct letter.

It can also develop vocabulary skills for these students learning.
