Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our students are eager learners. They are talented musicians who love to sing and play instruments. They jump at the chance to participate in music class whether the activity involves playing a game, singing, or playing classroom instruments.

Our district is a Title I school district, and our school is primarily populated with minority, low socioeconomic students.

As such, most of our students qualify for free or reduced-price lunches. For many of them, music class is their only chance to learn musical/artistic expression.

Due to limited financial resources, we are in need of additional funds to purchase these types of instruments. Children need hands-on activities and musical instruments are a fun and effective way to provide that opportunity.

My Project

Our district is A Title 1 district and therefore money is tight. Many of our instruments are in poor condition. Repair costs are more expensive than replacements. But replacements are also too expensive.

Some of our instruments are well over 30 years old.

Parts have broken or gone missing with no resources to fix or replace them. We just don't have the means to provide the instruments that these kids need to fully enjoy music.

Our students are very musically inclined. With this Sonor Bass Xylophone, they will be better able to hear, play and sing the appropriate pitches. Melodies, and harmonies can be played by the students or the teacher for the students as they sing and play instruments.
