This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students attend a STEAM Academy magnet school which focuses on integrating the Arts in all areas. Music is a fun and active class that they all enjoy as we sing, dance and play together.

My students love to explore, create and perform!

They crave active music making through singing, playing instruments, dancing and performing "on stage" in my room. Their imaginations are extensive, their energy is contagious and they are enthusiastic about all of my musical activities. My students are so ready to enjoy live music making together in person.

My Project

My students are constantly craving hands on music activities with instruments. They love exploring and playing all kinds of musical instruments. I am excited to get two sizes of the cajon drums to accommodate my primary and intermediate students.

My students will thoroughly enjoy playing a cajon box drum as a new way to create rhythms while playing music with others.

Kids love making music, finding new sounds and performing with their friends. As an added learning opportunity, my STEAM students will have the chance to investigate how the cajon works and produces its sound.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
