My Project

Sensory learning is critical in the early childhood classroom. Sensory experiences help children talk about what they are creating, addresses their fine motor skills, and gives them chances to problem solve, all while they are socially interacting with their peers. Sensory experiences also contribute to developing an awareness, through hands-on learning and each child's senses.

Purposeful play is important!

Sensory play introduces the use of the "scientific method" of observing, forming a hypothesis, experimenting, and making conclusions while children explore and play. Sensory play also contributes to their love and interest in math and science.

Now more than ever, children need opportunities to participate in purposeful play-based learning that is highly engaging. Through the use of sensory dough kits such a bumble bee kit, strawberry picking kit, work zone kit, baking kit, and picnic kit, children will be given additional opportunities to engage in creative play across various centers, but at one of their favorites, sensory dough! Sensory activities are not only fun and interesting, but encourage children to explore and investigate. These materials will contribute to additional opportunities for turn taking, sharing, and cooperative play, as students build their fine motor skills and develop vocabulary related to the world around them. The moonlight magic sensory bin filler will go at their other favorite, the sensory table, as children pour, mix, and scoop through cooperative play!
