Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are excited to be able to come to school! They are four-years old and inquisitive. They speak many different languages and have diverse cultural backgrounds. The majority of my students' families are 200% below the poverty line. Because our program is inclusive, we have many students who could be called disabled, but we see them as "abled!"
My students inspire me to see the world through explorer eyes.
Each day is filled with discoveries and heart-warming connections. Our class is a strong community who values each others uniqueness. It is a gift to be able to provide a safe and engaging learning environment for children who face many challenges outside of our classroom.
My Project
Our school district realizes the critical importance early education plays in school success. We have looked at our most at-risk student populations by analyzing graduation rates and are, therefore, providing a free preschool for students 200% below the poverty line and students identified with special education needs.
Imaginative play creates the rich learning environment our students need to develop social emotional health and an inquiry mind.
With this doll house students will use role play to learn language, problem solving and reflect on their own family structures. The road rug, construction vehicles, community set and animals will complement our classroom blocks which are used to build structures. This play is actually engineering design for our youngest engineers and scientists!
