Our students are a mix of children with special needs and typical peers. Our goal is to meet all children where they are to help them succeed. The classrooms consist of three-year-olds in which this is their first preschool experience and four-year-olds that are preparing for kindergarten. Many of the children come from a low-income family and do not always get the same opportunities as others. In order to provide our children with new and exciting experiences, we need quality supplies.
My Project
This project contains activities and supplies to implement conscious discipline. This includes books and CDs that contain songs called I Love You rituals which help build connections with students. The picture supports will be used with students that are non verbal or have limited language. The books contain stories of what to do when you are angry or sad. The breathing tools will be used to teach breathing techniques while the children are calm. The I Love You rituals on a string will make it easy to implement on the playground and areas in the school. All the materials will be shared with 6 classrooms.
