This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Our middle school scholars live in El Cajon, California. We are in our 4th year of building and designing a student-centered learning model. Middle school is many things. It is a time of intense growth and intellectual development, and we want our scholars to think back to their experience at our school and remember how each learner was empowered to imagine, design and explore.The mission and vision of our new middle school is to develop a global academy that focuses on each scholar's individual passions; our scholars are brilliant and they are on a life-long journey to becoming multilingual, multi-literate and multicultural global citizens.

Students will take an X-Factor class where advisors/educators can expose students to their passions such as: aviation, carpentry, strength-training, golf, photography, candle making, the science of sleep and a game theory class.

These classes will expose students to important skills while also integrating teacher passions. The requested materials will help our small middle school offer several other courses throughout the school year. What is so special about the X-Factor classes that are taught is that they expose our students to fun project-based classes that allow our students and teachers to connect and find shared interests in their passions.
