My school is one that educates the young who come from a diverse community, low-income families, and families that have children with a special need. We are a school that supports both the students and the families.
My Pre-K students come from a very diverse community.
They are young, creative, and full of questions. They enjoy activities that are hands-on, get them moving, and engage them. They come in the classroom full of smiles and ready to share their experiences with the rest of the class.
My Project
My students participate in a six-week unit on trees to go along with our Creative Curriculum. We talk about different types of trees, read books about trees, and discuss the importance of trees. We also plant a tree and play with and discuss animals who live in trees.
In order to bring this unit to life, I like to transform my classroom into a tree-themed environment!
This really gets the students excited about what unit we are studying. I want my students to be able to sit on tree stumps in the library center and “pick” new books off of the bookshelf.
