Planting A Brighter Future In Our Community

My Students

I teach in a Title I school where a large number of students qualify for free and reduced lunch. My third grade classroom is full of vibrant, eager little learners. We all have one goal to make learning fun and do have a CAN DO attitude. This is my second year teaching third grade. I have taught kindergarten and first grade for the last 19 years.

I find that it is important to provide student opportunities to explore their learning with hands-on experiences.

The students in my classroom all have different learning needs and are at an age where they can begin to explore the world around them and find avenues that work best for their learning.

My Project

Our students will be learning about soil, conservation of resources, and recycling. We will be incorporating our Science unit on Earth Day and recycling with a community service project. Every year local businesses support our school and as a way to give back to them we would like to plant flowers to display in their business fronts. The students will be learning about the different types of soil in Science and will be attending a field trip to the local landfill and recycling center. They will also learn about the process of the plant life cycle. This is a wonderful community and school interaction!
