A day in my classroom is a day filled with learning, respect, and hard work. My school is in a rural area, and the students that I teach come from a wide variety of backgrounds.
Our class motto is, "In this room, we don't do easy.
We make easy happen through hard work and learning!"
I have high expectations for my students and do everything in my ability to help them achieve their goals! I enjoy planning creative lessons and projects as much as my students enjoy working on them!
My Project
My third graders will be studying plants next year. Tom's of Maine has inspired me to step out of the box and do more than just the basic textbook lessons on plants and compost.
Growing our own vegetables through the use of hydroponics, and watching materials decay through the composting process will be much more meaningful through hands-on experiments rather than through simple pictures in a textbook or a video that we watch.
I'm looking forward to engaging my students in not only these experiments, but I also want to see them studying plants around them. We will be keeping plant journals and pressing plants and leaves as we use the iPad to identify the plants in the world around us!
I will also had a few picture books to our classroom library to encourage students to read more about what we are studying during class time.
