My students need 30 Place Value Hands-On Teaching Kits (1 for each child), Place Value Magic Boards Practice Cards, and a set of Student Place Value Practice Boards.
My students have the everyday challenges. The challenge to learn to read, write, and do math. But, they also have these challenges during the time when public education budget crisis in California. Schools are losing massive funding, and huge cuts and being made. Students shouldn't have to see this.
I currently have twenty-three very energetic and enthusiastic students.
They are SO excited about coming back to school. They come each day full of smiles. When I asked them the first week of school what their favorite subject was, most of them picked Math. This was music to my ears.
They come to a school with a large population and a very diverse student base. We serve children in grades pre-k through sixth grade.
My Project
My students will have the opportunity to practice place value skills in a kid friendly manner. My students will have the chance to learn to work with numbers using these wonderful tools. This will help them to improve both their mathematics skills. Our plan is to practice place value whole group, in small, groups, and independently. The student practice boards will help us during our whole group sessions. The Place Value Student Kits will be used during our whole group and small group practice work. This will allow the students to manipulate the base ten blocks and cubes for regrouping numbers. They will be used along side of the student practice boards. Once the students have regrouped, they will make the number on the student practice board as well. Finally, the practice cards will be used for more independent practice and within math centers.
My project is important because it has the best interest of my students in the forefront.
Their education is the key to the future. They deserve to have the opportunity to learn math through hands-on materials. Your donation will touch the lives of these curious little minds and help to shape them as future mathematicians.
