My Project

Developing number sense and a strong understanding of place value is an important concept for elementary students. By developing number sense, they can manipulate numbers by putting them together differently. When students have number sense they are able to easily put together numbers without having to count on their finger or use other manipulative such as counters or their fingers. Understanding place value means the student is able to describe numbers using mathematical words such as hundreds, tens, ones etc.

By attaining to place value, students will develop a stronger understanding of mathematics and be able to solve problems using mental math strategies at a greater rate.

With a strong understanding of place value, students will be able to solve double-digit or three-digit addition problems. The Ready Set Math Place Value resources in this project have been researched and aligned with the training that I have taken, which will allow for seamless implementation. The activities will also engage students as they get 20-25 minutes of targeted instruction.
