Help me give my students the ability to build skills and make social connections.
FULLY FUNDED! Mr. Garcia's classroom raised $752

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
This project will encourage critical thinking skills by having students learn, understand, and use “coding” to create interactive computer games. This engages students to think like “computer scientists,” and develop as creators and problem solvers. Students learn “by doing,” and this will give them the opportunity to apply these skills in various subjects such as math, science, arts, and more.
Through project-based learning, students will computationally utilize a computer system along with coding software and controllers to create games.
Many studies have shown that participating in video games has shown increased cognitive functions among participants including association with memory, strategic planning, attention to detail, and fine motor skills. It also allows for social collaboration among students which can lead to more positive behaviors (such as friendship, social acceptance, and motivation).
