Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
As a physical education teacher and coach at an inner-city, urban school district, it can be difficult to find new activities for students to try. Each semester, combined with my co-teachers, we teach approximately 300 students. Many of the students in our school are used to doing the same types of sports and physical activities every year. They also do not have as many safe areas to visit to try new activities when they go home or throughout the summer months.
I want to expose the students to new engaging activities that they may not have a chance to try outside of school.
By creating new opportunities, such as an after school Ping Pong club, students will become more engaged in fitness activities and games, and might even find a new hobby to enjoy at home, or with friends.
My Project
The generous donors who gave to my last project supported getting Ping Pong Tables to use for an after school club! In order to use those tables, we need to get some basic ping pong supplies.
By getting durable materials, such as paddles and ping pong balls, the new tables we are getting will be put to good use!
The paddles and balls will allows students to engage in a low contact activity and learn a new sport! It will have students being physically and mentally active, all while having fun!
