This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Project
Our revitalized GSA at James Hillhouse High School is driven by students who are dedicated to fostering a safer and more inclusive environment for our LGBTQ+ community. Making pins serves as a means to embrace the diverse range of genders and sexualities among our student body. Our goal is to create Pride pins for this June's celebration and produce pins displaying preferred pronouns at the beginning of the next school year. Together, we aim to normalize identity expression and champion acceptance for all.
With the button maker, our Gender and Sexual Alliance Club (GSA) will embark on a journey of expression and empowerment.
Each button becomes a canvas for our students to amplify their voices, share their stories, and advocate for inclusion and equality. I love my students for their courage, resilience, and unwavering commitment to creating a safer and more accepting community for all. This resource will be instrumental in our efforts, allowing us to visually represent our beliefs, celebrate diversity, and spark crucial conversations. With every pin, we will proudly display our support for LGBTQ+ rights, challenge stereotypes, and foster a sense of belonging. The button maker is not just a tool; it's a symbol of our unity and determination to make a difference, one button at a time.
