Ever heard the phrase, "A picture can tell a thousand words"? For my special education students, those words could not ring truer.

My students in our school inclusion program are multiply handicapped and on the autism spectrum. They are unable to answer the simple question all parents ask, "How was your day at school?"

With the help of a digital camera, my students could take pictures of their school day to share the events of their day with their family. The pictures could be printed or emailed home, enabling my students to communicate directly with their family. They could take pictures of who they played with at recess, who they ate lunch with, the classmates with whom they played a game during reading, or even what story they read at story time. This would give the students an opportunity to join in a family dinner conversation or participate in bedtime ritual.

With your help my students could finally answer the question we have all answered, "How was your day?" with excitement.
