This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
One of my fondest memories of Head Start at the age of 4, was having stories read-aloud to me. My pre-schooners also share that same delight. I would love to incorporate the use of technology in our storytelling time by using a projector to lift the words and pictures off the pages.
My children are in pre kindergarten ages 3 to 5.
Our school serves pre-K through 8th grade students in an urban high poverty setting. My classroom includes both special and regular education students from diverse cultures. My students are bright, resourceful, and eager to learn.
My Project
The Elmo will be used to project pictures from our storybooks to the screen. This will enable our students to hear a read aloud while actually seeing the pictures enlarged and in color. Students will be able to track the print and derive meaning from pictures. Having this tool will dramatically improve student literacy and help develop a life-long love of reading in our early learners.
My project is important because students who receive quality preschool instruction statistically perform better throughout their academic careers.
Incorporating technology in our pre-school classroom will provide meaningful and rich literacy instruction for our students.
