My children are 3, 4, and 5 years old in a blended (regular and special education) pre-school classroom. They are bright, upbeat, enthusiastic, and absolutely, positively, LOVE BOOKS! Book Browsing is a daily activity in pre-school. During this activity, students choose their favorite books to take a picture walk and retell the stories. This is an integral part of early literacy. My students have a "thirst" for knowledge and a desire to learn more about what's happening in the books they've selected for the day. I love their enthusiasm and would like to give them more opportunities to explore books and to challenge their thinking. Currently, our books are becoming worn and the selection is limited. Our pre-schoolers are selected for the pre-school program by qualifying to receive free or reduced lunch. Over 80% of the students who attend our school in grades K-8 receive free or reduced lunches and oftentimes, educational resources are limited.
