My students are from a low-income, rural area, with very few opportunities to see things on a global scale outside of the internet. Many of them are incredibly artistic and creative kids and they don't have the outlet for that creativity. I love to see the things they come up with when they are provided with the opportunity to think outside of the box.
I love these kids and I want to help them see the world through different eyes!
A few of my students have used my personal digital SLR to take pictures and have fallen in love with taking professional quality pictures. It would be nice for them to have their own up-to-date equipment to document the school year!
The addition of this digital SLR camera and memory cards will allow the students to take fantastic pictures for the yearbook, school webpage, and school newsletter publication.
This will be something they can take ownership of...something they can be proud of.
This camera may also serve as a tool for any budding photographer that may have the chance to be in my class!
