Help me give my students picture books that are needed to teach specific STEM lessons that incorporate literature with science, technology, engineering and mathematics as well as craft materials to be added to a classroom makerspace.
I teach a class of 27 third graders. This group of kids was in my second grade class last year and I was fortunate to be able to loop up to the next grade level with them. Since the children already know each other, they have developed close relationships. They equally support and challenge each other every day.
Curious, enthusiastic, and creative, my students are eager to immerse themselves in new challenges.
My students need new engaging STEM materials to continue motivating their learning.
My Project
Through a previously funded DonorsChoose.org project, I was able to purchase a book for my students called Picture-Perfect STEM that has lessons that focus on science, technology, engineering and mathematics. My students need some of the picture books that are integrated into these STEM lessons. Each lesson incorporates a fiction and nonfiction picture book related to the topic of the STEM lesson. While teaching these lessons the students are fully engaged and excited about their education.
A makerspace is a collaborative workspace in our classroom where students can use materials to create.
Students use the Engineering and Design process to design a solution to a problem and then have a space to carry out their design.
