Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

The goal for this project is to create an opportunity for our seniors to create memories together during their last months as middle schoolers while being immersed in the current units of study. Students will create paintings to reflect their study of Georgia O'Keeffe's earlier artwork in which she utilized watercolor as her primary medium. They will attempt O'Keeffe's style of blending analogous colors and other characteristics they notice within her body of work.

This project will allow students to demonstrate shading in color, contour lines and color theory.

Not only will this allow them to create a visual component to accompany their research, but also allow opportunity for their own exploration of art. The picnic setting provides a space for them to strengthen comraderies in a relaxing environment which promotes elements of social emotional learning.
