My Students

A few years ago we changed from a school team to a district program, and we have steadily grown every year. Our district is the third largest public school district in KY with student populations from rural, urban, and suburban communities, 18% minority, and 38% low income.

Our growing team is developing a diverse population with almost 25% female students, varied socioeconomic levels, and increased minority participation.

The team has more than tripled in size and space requirements. With this welcome growth comes an increased need for funding.

My Project

Students on the PiBotics Robotics Team FRC3814 have the opportunity to learn valuable 21st Century Workplace Skills through actively participating in robotics competitions. They learn how to cooperate and collaborate with other teams in their alliances, they gain valuable experiences communicating with team and alliance members and game officials, they participate in critical analysis of the robots and team strategies while spectating, and they engage in valuable team and spirit building activities.

Traveling together as a team is a critical element to establishing and maintaining team focus which helps students to maximize their effectiveness.

The nearest competitions are all regional, requiring us to travel several hours away from school. In order to enable all team members to participate regardless of financial situation, we need funding to help us pay for the team bus.
