The students I have the privilege to teach are learning PE in a structured environment that teaches them to use a wide variety of motor skills in both fun and disciplined ways. They are required each day to perform tasks such as push-ups, sit-ups etc., as well as participate in engaging team building activities. Even though the students prefer the fun activities, many of them are beginning to ask to do mountain climbers, side shuffles and other skill building exercises. Already this year the students are becoming more interested in doing activities that push them to become more fit and healthy.
My students long for classroom structure and new knowledge of physical activity.
I challenge myself to give them these things every day. However, I am running short on equipment and it can be hard to give my students the full knowledge and experience of each activity that we do. My kids deserve the very best in every part of their lives, P.E. is a very important factor to their success in school. Because of this, I want to give them the very best P.E. environment.
My Project
Three of my main units I do throughout the year are soccer, volleyball, and scooter units. My soccer unit is very fun and I end it with playing soccer golf. The students love this! My volleyball unit is always very fun and I end it by playing a volleyball tournament.
Lastly, my scooter unit is a great way for core, leg, and arm strength.
Soccer and Volleyball are not offered at the school I teach at so being able to teach these life long activity games is very important in my classroom. Any amount of help will contribute to students gaining knowledge in not only teamwork, but new activities to stay healthy.
