Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Physical Education is a class where students can come an socialize and participate in physical activity, while developing team skills and individual skills. Students at our school will be able to participate in Badminton during class time with their peers to develop hand eye coordination as well as develop agility and accuracy.

Here, our students apply to be at our school.

We are a magnet school that students specifically seek out to learn and develop their knowledge in specific programs like nursing, bio medical, and sports medicine. The students who typically apply to the school are not participating in any sports outside of our school due to how academically challenging it is.

Within our physical education classes, we are able to create a welcoming and positive environment for all of our 9th-12th grade students who participate in classes within out department.

Through games and activities like badminton, we are able to create a safe and welcoming learning environment for all students that takes very little skill to get a game going. It is one of our most popular units we teach in PE and our students love to come on Thursdays after school to club badminton to continue their game play.

With this equipment, we will be able to have enough rackets and birdies for our class sizes of 58 students to participate in badminton during that PE unit and allow our badminton club after school utilize the equipment for game play.
