My students need 2 additional digital cameras and batteries to keep them running all year.
FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. Gale's classroom raised $179
This project is fully funded
I teach 8th grade language arts and am the yearbook adviser in a school that serves 700 students. These 700 students come from a variety of educational and social and economical backgrounds.
If seeing a picture is worth a thousand words imagine what the experience of taking pictures is worth. I would like to give my students the experience of real photography as a springboard for writing and also publishing the yearbook.
The digital cameras would be used to help students illustrate their writing. Additionally pictures will also be incorporated into our history lessons. I believe the strategy of using pictures will be especially benifical to my students who struggle with language. Something as simple as a digital camera will encourage my Hispanic students and my learning disabled students. A little bit of success can go a long way!
In addition, the digital cameras would allow the students to participate in the yearbook process. The flexibility of digital cameras will allow students to take many pictures without worrying about wasting film, thus allowing them to learn from their mistakes. They will be able to critique and correct their work immediately which will allow them to grow as photographers.
Your donation of two cameras and batteries will impact many students both academically, socially and enrich their lives. Help me to teach them the power of pictures. My students are very excited and look forward to taking pictures.
