My Project

UFLI (you fly) is a science of reading, research, and evidence-based program with detailed but easy-to-follow lesson plans, which focuses on improving literacy outcomes for struggling students. My students range from Young 5's to 3rd graders and I co-teach with a wonderful team of educators who need access to these materials so that we can change the 1-2 year reading gap that our students are facing.

UFLI is a comprehensive program that allows our teachers to combine their Orton Gillingham training, the science of reading, and explicit phonics and phonemic awareness skills to increase our students reading outcomes.

Teachers who I work with will receive these materials and we will be able to conduct small groups to meet the individual needs of our students. Additionally, we will be able to see students' attitude shift and academic grades increase when children are taught explicitly how to map words. I can't wait for our struggling readers to build connections. Moreover, I can't wait to ease the concern of each teacher having to write 4-7 different lesson plans for each small group when they are already written in this book. Our students deserve the best and we will be able to deliver quality instruction with this essential tool, along with maintaining our current knowledge of relevant practices and our mental health.
