My students need items that will enhance phonics skills previously taught in order for them to read and complete our learning in kindergarten. These items will have to foster independence in our learning.
My students are in need a few phonics tools in order to help us become more independent with reading. Kindergartners need quick and easy tools to help them navigate through out the school day.
Our school is a Priority School, our staff is made up of people committed to learning.
We will do anything to help our students succeed. Our students face so so many challenges before they even arrive at school in the morning, but they still want to learn and are open to new opportunities that arise.
My students are amazing! Our environment allows them to take risks and be themselves each day. They need to feel loved and appreciated so that they can be successful regardless of what they are facing outside of the school day. It has been rewarding to create an environment in which they can all feel comfortable and safe.
Our classroom is a community. We work hard, support each other's efforts, and celebrate our successes! I would love to provide my students with extra phonics tools to create and foster independence. Kindergartners are able to be independent when given the right tools!
My Project
Fostering independence is a large part of learning in kindergarten. These materials will allow students to independently practice phonics skills through hands on learning experiences. Alphabet tubs will allow students to see real life examples of items that start with the sound the letter makes.
Real life connections are very important for helping to set a base that students can use for foster independence while learning.
Blending and digraph tubs will help students to understand how letters blend together to create new sounds, using more real life examples. We are in need of magnetic boards for quick and easy writing during small group practice sessions. All of these items will allow students to work independently or in small groups to help with reinforcing skills learned previously.
