We are also utilizing the big book area in our room by reading the big books together as a class, while the children are also reading them on their own and with each other, even outside of our read aloud time. \r\n\r\nDuring their free choice time, they have been drawn to the library area as well as the big book area. They have been taking the big books and reading with a partner on our large group rug, taking their own initiative to read and showing excitement while reading the books. The big book station has helped with the organization of the big books and has been helpful for me to read the big books to the children as a large group. \r\n\r\nMy students were so surprised and excited as I opened up our packages and introduced the books and stuffed animals to them. They immediately wanted to start reading the books together. \r\n\r\nWhile our school year has ended, I had utilized the books during our end of the year study, specifically the Rainbow Fish book. The students loved as I read the Rainbow Fish book with the Rainbow Fish plush. We talked about friendship in our class as well as how they will make and keep friends when they move up to Kindergarten next year. I will continue to utilize the materials in class next year by engaging the children in our stories and teaching them lessons, such as friendship and being kind to others, during our read aloud time and throughout the day. \r\n\r\nThank you again so much for enhancing reading in my classroom!","fullyFundedDate":1744911792033,"projectUrl":"project/enhancing-literacy-learning-experiences/9115957/","projectTitle":"Enhancing Literacy Learning Experiences in Pre-K!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Chelsea","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9456195_orig.jpg?crop=480,480,x0,y43&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1749647939921","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9456195"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_73681","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":150,"numTeachers":18,"percentFrplEligible":83,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":91,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":4,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - Pre-K","studentTeacherRatio":"8.3:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR District Record","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"TOWN","ncesMetroType":null},"inStateSupporters":70.8,"schoolId":73681,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Viking Learning Center on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Viking Learning Center","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/michigan/cadillac-area-public-school-district/kenwood-elementary-school/73681"}
