Phonics Fun in First

Help me give my students more phonics resources in our classroom! We are asking for learning tubs that contain items for hands-on learning during our phonics block, and short books focused on phonics patterns for buddy reading!

My Students

I have a class full of active first grade students who are excited to learn and explore each day at our elementary school. They have a variety of life experiences and are very diverse in their achievement levels and exposure to resources. I have ESL and Special Education students in my classroom who receive support in and out of the classroom.

We are a diverse group of learners in a culturally diverse community with the expectation of educational excellence for all students.

My Project

Our class is increasing our phonics focus this year and we need additional resources in order to give students the most opportunities to apply their skills. These learning tubs will give my students the opportunity to see and touch items that have the sounds we are discussing each week.

These resources will connect and reach a variety of learning styles allowing them to see, hear, and feel the sounds we discuss.

The decodable books will allow students to practice reading specific phonics patterns. By getting two sets of books students will be able to read with each other and practice these skills throughout the day after instruction.
