My Project

I love how my students are interested in how each sound feels and what part of their mouth the sound is coming from. So far, we have been using our hands to feel the shape our lips are going into when pronouncing specific sounds. By having mini mirrors for each student, they will be able to see where they’re placing their tongue and teeth.

The most beneficial parts of our day are our guided reading intervention time.

I am requesting various small group materials to make group time as something students look forward to, with fun materials like special magnetic trays, wands, colorful markers, and magnetic chips.

I am requesting “drawing pads” for easy erasing while doing our phonics lessons. Many of our dry erase boards were handed down and are not in the best shape anymore. The drawing pads will be a nice replacement, allowing us to use these with no wait time for erasing or finding a marker that is not dried up.

My students love reading! In our phonics curriculum, we go over specific skills (digraphs, CVC words, and many more!). I have requested a collection of books that are in a phonics skill series to reinforce the phonics skills we learn. I also have requested phonics phones so students can hear how they’re pronouncing the words as they read, as this is crucial for struggling readers.

Lastly, I am requesting sheet protectors so I can put together home packets with various phonics games for students to continue learning and growing their phonics skills at home.
