My Project

My students are deeply embedded in the digital age, and this means that they are very connected to their devices. Many describe feeling addicted to their devices for self-soothing and connection. When I dig deeper in these conversations, I'm hearing again and again from students that being tethered to their phones is a habit that's hard to break, but they're also willing and interested in incentivizing new habits that would help them establish healthy boundaries around their technology use. As we teach digital citizenship and conscious engagement (and disengagement) with technology, we need your help to stock our school with essential supplies to pilot a new initiative.

Help my kids put the phones down, and focus up!

We are excited to create Cell Phone Charging Stations in every classroom. In limited pilots, we've seen this routine make a huge difference in students' engagement, motivating them to set aside those phones and commit more fully to the learning experiences in front of them. This then has immediate impacts on their internalization of the learning, their collaboration with one another, and their capacities to accurately identify how they're progressing and what support they need to proceed.
