This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

The students in my class thrive for excitement and new opportunities for learning. They are the best group a teacher can ask for. My students are inquisitive, knowledge seekers who embrace new learning journeys with open minds. I enjoy teaching and try to bring fun and invigorating joy to my classroom. I know the importance of a great education. Every time I introduce content to the students it helps them become critical thinkers. The majority of my students come from low-income families but that doesn't hinder their enjoyment for learning, nor their eagerness to learn something new. These students come to school every day; and it is my mission to ensure they go home and reteach their parents a fraction of what I taught them.

My classroom is an oasis for my students; a place where they can reach for the stars and not be ashamed if they happen to make a mistake during a lesson.

My class is determined, driven, and fall in love with learning every day​! My students are destined for greatness, and I am able to see where that beginning is shaped. I am one of many teachers who will impact their lives in education forever!

My Project

These materials will help me engage my students in the world of phonics from a new vantage point during small group lessons. The students will be given more innovative ways to learn about skills like cvc words, rhyming, and reading. I can teach reading through fun games and not lectures.

The students wont realize they are learning because the use of these activities will have them begging for more group time with the teacher.

I want to present the material and skills needed to read in interesting and fun ways during small group lessons, that will eventually become independent centers.
