This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
In my dual-language kindergarten classroom, the Spanish leveled readers I'm requesting will significantly enhance my students' learning by providing age-appropriate, culturally relevant materials that align with their reading abilities. These readers will support the development of literacy skills in Spanish, fostering bilingualism and biliteracy, which are crucial for cognitive growth and academic success. By engaging with texts that reflect their linguistic and cultural backgrounds, students will build confidence, improve comprehension, and develop a lifelong love for reading.
My goals for this project are to:
Enhance students' phonological awareness and reading proficiency in Spanish.
Provide diverse and inclusive reading materials that reflect students' cultural backgrounds.
Foster a bilingual learning environment that promotes cognitive development and academic achievement.
My students are special because they bring a rich tapestry of linguistic and cultural diversity to the classroom. Their eagerness to learn and embrace both English and Spanish not only enriches their own educational experiences but also contributes to a more inclusive and dynamic classroom community. By supporting their bilingual development, I am empowering them to become confident, capable, and culturally aware individuals.
