I want to take a minute or two to explain how much this grant has meant to me and my students. \r\n\r\nFirst, the most favorite item by far was the sea life lamp. They loved the lit up water, the jellyfish and two neon colored fish. They even named them! Marshmallow, Wings of Fire, Rosie and Rocket are now our \"class pets\". \r\n\r\nThe other sensory items they have really enjoyed are the lava lamps and robot fidgets. They use these as short lived brain breaks to help with focus and attention. The students also use the sound proof headphones daily when working. Instead, it took a full two days for the students to complete their required work plans. With this grant, I bought several more alphabets and the two days reduced to one. Your donation truly made a difference in my students' learning especially when it comes to developing their language skills, phonemic awareness, and understanding of complex literacy concepts in Spanish.\r\n\r\nIn our kindergarten class, most of my students are English-dominant and are learning Spanish as their second language. Since Spanish is the language of instruction in our dual language program, they're asked to learn academic content in a language they're still acquiring. It's a big challenge for such young learners, but your support gave them the tools they needed to face that challenge with confidence.\r\n\r\nThanks to the materials you helped fund, my students were able to dive into interactive, hands-on activities that made a real difference in how they engaged with language. They practiced breaking apart and putting together syllables, identifying sounds at the beginning, middle, and end of words, and learning tricky patterns like sílabas trabadas (blended syllables like pla, tra, gla, etc.). These are tough concepts even for native Spanish speakers, so having engaging, visual, and tactile resources really helped.\r\n\r\nWhat's been really special is seeing how these activities encouraged collaboration and peer learning. My students worked together to build words, play syllable games, and sort cards by sounds and syllables.
