Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Hi there! We are second graders at a Title I school in Frederick, Maryland. That means most of our student population comes from low-income families and qualify for free or reduced-price breakfast and lunch. This also means that they often don't have the resources to acquire certain luxuries that other families may be used to.

Our students are a part of the Transitional Bilingual Education (TBE) program.

All of our students are ELL (English Language Learners) and are learning English as a second language. Our students work super hard and they love to practice and learn. Students spend half of the day receiving instruction in English and the other half of the day in Spanish. The TBE program supports students in becoming bi-literate, bi-cultural, and bilingual. Your support would help us to provide more educational resources to our bilingual students.

My Project

Teaching during a pandemic is a lot different than teaching how it used to be. Coming back to the classroom has brought so much joy to students. the students I have this year were just kindergarteners when the Pandemic started and because of that there is a big gap to close, and to add on to that, they are learning in two different languages (Spanish and English).

I am asking your help to receive a Cricut Joy so I can personalize all their belongings and they don't have to share their things.

With this new device I will be able to label and quickly identify what belongs to who. This way I will keep my students materials in order. Students will also be able to use the different vinyls to create different stickers or iron on decals for things like water bottles, masks, shirts, etc. These decals will also be offered to other classrooms as a way for students to share their creativity with others.
