Our classroom is transitioning into a blended learning environment where students need to be able to work both independently and collaboratively with their classmates.
I teach in a high poverty school in the inner city with over three fourths of the children receiving free or reduced lunch.
Almost half of my classroom is made up of English language learners along with a few students who have special needs. I have students in my classroom who live in poverty, hotels, and no permanent housing.
They are a very active group of kiddos and very excited about school who love learning new things and working together to grow academically.
My Project
It's very difficult for 24 first graders to sit in a desk and hard chair all day long. They love moving around the room and the resources I am asking will give them that chance! These resources will give my students the chance to move around the room and have comfortable seating to help enhance their learning.
The wobble chairs will allow for them to let their little bodies move while working independently. The bean bag chairs will allow for them to be comfortable when working on their own or with their partners.
Children struggle with sitting in one spot for a long period of time and having the opportunity to choose their own seating will help motivate my students and enhance their learning.
These resources will allow my students to choose their seating and get them excited to work on their own and with their peers in class.
