My students are bright 8th graders who are starting to learn some really important Algebra concepts. My students have a wide variety of personal goals and interests. Many students want to make a living in rodeo, acting or sports. While these are nice careers the demanding and competitive nature of such jobs makes it less likely that as many will succeed as they presently think. Some girls are just planning to marry a rich man which sounds great but there needs to be a back up plan in this case as well. I want to give my students a good impression of the benefit of math knowledge in their lives that will allow them to make informed choices for their futures. The best way to make this happen is to be ready and organized myself.
My Project
This project will make classroom operation seamless and smooth. When classroom procedures run smoothly and each student has the supplies they need it creates a more effective learning environment.
Quality tools make it easier to make accurate measurements.
Quality measurements lead to better results. Stainless steel rulers will be very durable and will hold up in the Junior High environment.
Students will be correcting their own papers. They will use the colored pens for this purpose. This will help to make students more accountable and will discourage cheating.
I will have a set of dry erase boards in my classroom. The erasers and markers that I am ordering will help make using these boards regularly possible.
