My Project

My second graders are studying people who have made a difference in the world by standing up for others. They have studied Malala, Nelson Mandela, and Sitting Bull to name a few. They are learning that we can stand up for important things even when we are young. They are also learning about symbols and how to use them to share their ideas with others.

I want my students to create personal symbols on cloth to keep as a lasting keepsake.

I am asking for paint, dye, stencils, brushes and a book about messages. These materials will enable my students to choose how to represent themselves or what is important to them. The stencils, fabric paint, and tie dye materials will make their colorful messages shine.
