This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I strive to create a classroom environment where learning is fun and finances make sense. All my students are from different countries around the world, and aside from learning English, they are also learning the language of math. It can be overwhelming for my students when they are trying to acquire both math language and mathematical concepts. However, math is the groundwork for the beginnings of financial literacy.

With board games and books focused on math, strategy, and finance, students can engage in a low-anxiety, low-risk environment while learning the basics of financial literacy.

It can be daunting to learn about the ins and outs of finances, but I hope to utilize board games as a way to increase their familiarity and comfortability with money terminology, build essential math skills, and teach them strategy and cooperation. In addition, my students often remark on how they want to be rich and make a lot of money in the future - the selected books are meant to give them insight into saving, investing, spending, and bills: what they mean and how to manage those areas. I want to give my students a successful start by laying the groundwork for their personal financial journey.
