My students need supplies Pitsco EZ Start Raceway, Springworks Microfarm Aquaponic Garden, StratoLauncher IV Water Rocket Launcher + StratoFins Kit, for labs throughout this year and years to come
PHS contains roughly 1300 students in grades 9-12 and is located in Roxboro, NC. It is a fairly rural high school with a diverse student body.
The students within my science classes are always interested in taking what they have learned and relaying it towards real world applications.
These labs that I am trying to complete this semester and all future semesters are going to provide opportunities for students to work collaboratively with others and dramatically increase their problem solving skills.
My Project
My students need supplies Pitsco EZ Start Raceway, Springworks Microfarm Aquaponic Garden, StratoLauncher IV Water Rocket Launcher + StratoFins Kit, that will allow my students to complete three different labs. One item that I am requesting is a Pitsco EZ Start Raceway. This will be used by my physics class in order to illustrate the concepts we cover in class regarding speed, motion, acceleration, friction, and forces. Another item I am requesting is a water rocket launcher. This item will be used in conclusion to the projectile motion and two dimensional motion unit. Students again will get a visual and perform calculations using live data to ensure their comprehension of the topics and formulas covered. The last item that I am requesting is a aquaculture kit for an aquarium that will be placed in my classroom. This will allow my AP Environmental students to see how aquaculture works and how nutrients flow through an ecosystem.Thank you for taking the time and consideration of viewing the project I am trying to fulfill for my science students. I am hoping to receive these items in an effort to give students the chance to apply the knowledge they have learned in my class towards a tangible goal that boosts their learning and confidence.
These labs will also help solidify the concepts they have learned by giving them a vital memory to hang on to in which they can remember actually seeing and verifying that which they have learned.
I believe science has to be taught hands on and strongly feel these items will allow me to do that even more than I have tried to do in the past. Thanks again for your time and consideration.
