Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Our project aims to enhance our special education classroom environment by funding a teacher coffee cart stocked with tea, hot chocolate, cookie mixes, and other essentials. This cart will significantly impact our special needs students’ learning experience by providing them with hands-on opportunities to develop valuable life skills such as counting money, making change, budgeting, organization, and responsibility. Additionally, it will serve as a social hub where students can practice communication and teamwork while interacting with peers and teachers in a relaxed setting. The comforting atmosphere created by the cart also helps foster a positive and supportive classroom environment, which can enhance student motivation and engagement.

Our goals for this project are to integrate practical life skills into everyday classroom activities and to foster a sense of community and collaboration among our students and staff.

My students are incredibly enthusiastic and eager to engage in activities that extend beyond traditional learning. They show a remarkable willingness to contribute to their classroom environment and possess great potential for growth when given hands-on, practical experiences. By involving them in the management of the coffee cart, we are tapping into their strengths and interests, helping them develop skills that will benefit them well beyond the classroom.
