My Students

Imagine going home and not being able to complete an assignment because you do not have the materials. Many of my students have the motivation but do not complete their projects simply because they do not have the supplies.

I will teach Social Studies to approximately 125 seventh grade students next year.

Over 85% of the students in our county receive free or reduced lunch. My students may come in at the beginning of the year with paper and pencil but even that doesn't last the entire school year. Asking my parents to provide project boards and poster boards is often an impossible request to fulfill.

My Project

My students do not just take paper/pencil tests. Our state is involved in performance-based learning. Students must show evidence that they understand their concepts - much more than what can be demonstrated with paper and pencil. We also participate in the National History Day competition every year. This is an awesome program that allows history to come alive. Students that do well compete at the regional and state level. These competitions provide invaluable experiences that could lead to a brighter future for the competitors.

In order to participate in our performance-based learning classroom and National History Day my students must have poster board and project boards to complete their projects.

Many of my students simply cannot afford to purchase these materials. Please consider making a donation today!
